HP’s new gaming laptop
The passion for gaming is not cheap at all. At least not as a hobby as origami, for example, the Japanese art of creating figurines by folding paper. When you want to keep up with the latest technology news, this can seriously affect your pocket, much more than you would give on paper sheets for folding. This does not necessarily happen, if you managed to get your hands on the last laptop intended for gamers from HP, Pavillion. An optimal configuration starts at about $ 1,100, which is almost half the price at which the Origin EON15-X machine is sold, mainly for gaming enthusiasts.
HP Pavilion is equipped with a powerful processor, the Skylake i7-6700HQ, as well as the much-vaunted Acer Predator 15, but here it has the advantage of price, being about $ 500 cheaper. Let’s admit however that the difference could be given only 8 GB, compared to 32 GB of RAM as has the gadget from Acer, but even so, saving over 500 euros is a worthy consideration. Another competitor for the new HP device is Gigabyte P55k V4, which comes equipped with the older Broadwell i7-5700HQ chip, but it is also more expensive with about $ 400 in the overseas market.
Similar to good gaming laptops, HP Pavilion is black, while the keyboard is lit in an Alien green, which takes us to the classic sci-fi films of the 80s. The keys are solid and also extremely sensitive to touch, while the touchpad leaves little to be desired at the feedback level. In any case, real gamers use a wired mouse to benefit from the best response to your favorite games. Therefore, there are already two design elements that attract attention, such as the gradient green that we find on the base of the laptop, to the one like the support legs on the back. At the same time, the matte black cover looks very elegant, when the device is turned off. And in terms of weight, we can say that HP’s device weighs about a kilo less than the Predator. It is also almost 4 cm narrower and 1 cm thinner than the “monster” Predator dedicated to gamers.
The hinge may seem a little strange, considering that the screen is supported by two arms placed right at the edge of it. Although it is a more durable solution, it does not give so good from an aesthetic point of view. On each side, the device has one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0. Also, on the left side, we have a DVD writer, although this feature has become less and less used lately. HP Pavillion is equipped with Intel processor of the sixth generation i7-6700HQ Skylake, which starts from the working frequencies of 2.6 GHZ. The processor is helped in its mission GTX 950M video card, introduced by Nvidia specifically to raise the level of laptops in the medium range. As for the 15.6 inch screen, it is built on FHD IPS technology, developing resolutions of 1920 x 1080 pixels. If we take into account that the device has a hard drive of 1 TB, we can say that the new HP Pavilion is not just a laptop, great for gaming, it’s a good deal if we compare it with other devices that are designed for this segment.
